Hey, friends!
So we've been thinking about adding a blog component to our site for a while now and just decided it was time to jump the gun.
I thought we should give a little introduction for those of you that don't know us.
Corey is a 26-year-old technical writer with a love for anything and everything history -- especially WWII. If he's not out taking photos, you can probably find him curled up at home ready one of his hundreds of books. He grew up in Shawnee, Kansas and went to college at K State University where he graduated with a degree in journalism and a minor in history. He's a homebody that also happens to be the life of any party he sets foot in (although he'd never admit it). Corey has been doing photography since college and fell in love during his internship at the 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, Kansas. There he mastered his photog skills and learned to perform under pressure.
As for me, my name is Maddy and I'm the second half of Jefferson May and proud girlfriend to Corey. I'm a 24-year-old college student graduating from UMKC with their version of a Journalism degree - yes, Corey and I are both writers at heart. I'm now working for 435 Magazine as an account executive and loving every second of it. When I'm not working or taking photos, I'm most likely hitting up a yoga class or editing photos (because let's be real, that's the biggest job). I started doing photography my junior year of High School by taking senior pictures for several classmates of mine. It was there that I developed my own style and love for portrait photography.
Several years later, Corey and I met and immediately bonded over our mutual love for photography. Fast forward 3.5 years and we now live together in Westport and we have two cats, Leo and Zuko, and a big fluffy 9-month-old puppy named Bessie. Over the last couple of years, we have been taking small photo gigs for friends and family, but just recently decided to kick it up a notch. We created a website and social media accounts and began promoting our work. Since then we have photographed weddings, engagements, corporate projects, promotions, newborns, family photos, large and small events...the list goes on.
If you would have told us a year ago that we would be booking 2019 + 2020 weddings on a regular basis, we would have never believed you. Every fiber in us is 1000% invested and in love with photography.
So, yeah. We're excited you're here! Let's take some photos.
